About FUAC
Fork Union Aquatic Club (FUAC) is a member of Virginia Swimming, Inc., the Virginia affiliate of USA Swimming, the sports national governing body. FUAC offers top flight coaching to swimmers from the novice through national championship levels.
Seasons
The team operates on a 12-month basis, with short breaks between seasons. The summer ("long course") season starts early in April and extends through mid-August, while the winter season ("short course") runs from September through late March. Competitions are often restricted to a particular ability level or age group, for example: 8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15 & Over. National Age Group (NAG) Time Standards are published by USA Swimming and are the basis for ability grouping.
Groups
The team is divided into separate groups designated by color or title: SENIOR ELITE, SENIOR, BLUE, RED, and WHITE. The senior groups are composed of more experienced swimmers, the blue group is composed of swimmers preparing to transition into the senior groups, while the red and white group swimmers learn the basics of competitive stroke mechanics. Each group is made up of swimmers who are similar in ability, experience, and age.
Commitment to Excellence
Fork Union Aquatic Club is club team associated with Fork Union Military Academy, which also allows for community participation (boys and girls). The Academy is committed to extending its tradition of swimming excellence to both its Cadets and members of the local community. FUAC trains in our new $4 million aquatic center.
